So Cheerio’s released a new commercial recently that featured an inter-racial couple and their mixed child. The kid comes in and ask her mother what the cereal does for the heart because she is confused by something her father has told her. The mom explains that its good for the heart, blah blah blah…then the girl smiles and runs off with the box. Next scene…father on the couch napping wakes up to find his chest (area where the heart is located) covered in cereal.
Cute right??
Well apparently the racist people of this great nation for some reason aren’t ready to see a white woman and a black man on tv….yeah let me repeat that…a white woman and a black man….is it 2013 or is it 1950?
Well the commercial was uploaded on May 28, 2013 and as of now (6/1/13 @noon) has 890,793 views, with 11,269 likes and 991 dislikes. Personally I didn’t blink an eye when I saw the video, because this is stuff I see everyday. Its like all of the dead KKK members have arisen from the dead and are now living and infecting the minds of others (think Zombies). The video originally had comments allowed (its been posted on youtube – video link below), but because there were so many racial remarks they had to disable them.
Now it boggles my mind that in this day in age, when we are struggling for equal rights for all that this mess is still taking place. I wish I could go back in time to the first person who thought oh goodness a black and a white together that’s just so wrong…then i want to bash their damn head in. Happiness is happiness. Love is love .. why can’t folks just mind their own damn business?
The company is portraying life as it is today. There are many numerous families that are mixed, black & white, black & spanish, american & german … no one is “full-blooded” anything anymore.
I just wish and hope and pray that the world will one day become more understanding that people will be who they are. They can’t fault Cherrios for producing this ad, its what is in America.
Now I could see if they had teenage parents…then i’d have an issue with it, but these are two grown “consenting” adults.
Just get over it…
