Now I’ll be the first to admit..the Roseanne show from back in the day was the shit!!! I used to watch it every week. I was glued to the TV like it was a Saturday morning cartoon. I mean where else could I see poor white trash, that acted like me, had the same issues as me, only they were white???
Well that was until they hit the lotto and changed..then the show got dull and boring and i pretty much stopped watching. So when they talked about a reboot with the original cast..i was a bit muffed and wondered..how would they play this out? How would they bring this about? Would the family still be rich? Would the family still be in Lanford? Would they still be in the same house? Would the kids be full grown? Would they have kids of their own? Would Dan still be alive? Would the little boy be all grown up and off to college? Would Roseanne and Jackie’s mother still be alive? Would certain characters be dead? What, what, what???
Then the show premiered .. . . . .
And I was highly disappointed. Dan was brought back to life, they family was poor again. All the kids were grown with kids of their own (who are also grown adults playing kids), the little boy that Dan and Roseanne had now never existed, Darlene and David are divorced (I’m surprised that they didn’t write her into being a lesbian into the show as that is who she is in real life), they brought in both girls that played Becky (very confusing), Darlene’s son is very gender fluid (which I can appreciate – but for that family is very weird), their son (why his name skips my memory right now is killing me) is married to a black woman) probably would have never really happened had that been real life with that family.
But now..she and her made up family are gone again.
After one season of the reboot, the show has been canceled.
She compared a black woman to an ape. In today’s time…that’s just something you don’t do. If you want to keep your job..you keep your mouth shut. You keep your racist thoughts in your head, and not spilling out of your mouth. Once they are online . . . . . they live forever. They cannot be erased. ESPECIALLY if you are a celebrity!!!
So now, all the hypocrites are up in arms about her getting fired. She exercised her first amendment rights for free speech about being a comedian. But a few months ago, they wanted Michelle Wolf fired for blasting jokes at Huckabee (who is a flat out liar) during the WH correspondence dinner. She’s a comedian as well..so where is her first amendment rights?? I can’t stand Wolf’s voice (nor do i think she’s funny either), but she has the right to say what she wants b/c she’s a comedian. But she would never (at least not in public) compare a black woman to a monkey.
Now this orange peel, wants to give Roseanne all of his support.
I mean really..is she next to be chief of something? Maybe she’ll be Chief of HUD when he gets tired of Carson? I mean after all those years of living in squalor in Lanford, IL .. then hitting the lotto .. then back to being poor .. she’s ready for running the Housing and Urban Development department.
So who knows right?? I will say that I watched this season of her reboot. I wasn’t pleased at all. For starters, her character voted for dipshit. Then there was the episode where DJ’s adopted kid (a young black girl) needed to skype with her mom who was overseas still serving her country) but their wifi had gone out. So she had to go to the neighbors house, who happened to be muslim. And basically the entire episode was well “they’re muslim so they have to be terrorist” but at the last minute let me have a change of heart and decide that they aren’t and play nice. HMPH. It really wasn’t a good idea for a show. Then there was the “I’m addicted to pills” for my arthritis pain episode, my granddaughter is stealing clothes to sell online b/c her father is a deadbeat and she wants to look cool episode, ….
You get where I’m going. Nothing was funny in all of the episodes.
I never really laughed in any of the shows i watched. I was like:
So blank faced. I couldn’t deal. I couldn’t even force myself to do it. With a fake laugh, and even with all my years of fake laughing with regular people, I couldn’t even stomach a fake laugh with this show. Pathetic I know. Some things are better left gone. And right now..Roseanne is one of those shows that was better left the way it was..dead and gone.
