so tonight pretty much sucked cause i got a call about 3 pm asking why i wasn’t at work. well to be honest… i didn’t know i had to work, last i had seen on the schedule i had one day this week to work. so i hurriedly hopped in the shower and jumped in the hoopty and took off to work. shortly after i got there and walked inside the mall did i realize that i forgot to set my dvr. my lady vol’s took the floor tonight to open the season against san fran. it was to be on sports south. it was too late for me to come home. while still a waste of gas, but it truly would have been worth it.

so i stayed at work, wondering what it was like to be in rocky top tonight. of course with the surge of people coming into the store, i had no time to sit and check the score, or even bother about the game. (which i know sounds like a bad thing since i’m such a big fan) but hell it was busy as fuk in the store tonight and with it being saturday (though i coulda sworn it was friday for what ever reason) payroll had to be done, end of week business matters (but i had to restock the store practically cause i’m the part timer).

so anyhows… i finally get home, let me feet relax a bit cause lets face it, being on your feet for hours at a time.. sucks ass. good shoes or not my ass… don’t mean a thing.

so i log onto yahoo sports and my heart falls deep into my chest… i see louisville 82 tennessee **** 49…. i’m like what the fuk… then i look again… louisville 82 tennessee tech 49… ****whew**** okay not my team… my heart thumps some more. i scroll down a bit more… tennessee 68 san fran 39 … my heart jumps for joy!!! i bounce on the couch and quickly hit the button to read the article. i’m excited.. my team is doing what they need to be done. and tonight was a serious night for my Lady Vols… tonight.. we raised our 8th CHAMPIONSHIP BANNER in The Summitt. Mind you… if you view my pictures,… the first 7 … well they take up all the room on the basket end of the court, so now we have to put our banners going down the side. (lol… yeah we that good)

so then i browsed a few more sites and found video of the banner raising… i watched as they sang the star spangled banner. i clapped with the band as they played Rocky Top, i sang with the crowd… “Oh Rocky Top you’ll always be…. home sweet homeeee to meeeeee… GOOD OLE’ ROCKY TOP ‘WHEW’ ROCKY TOP TENNESSEE!!!!!”

then the coaching staff came out… i watched the coaches who took my team to the ‘ship beam utter happiness. then the best damn coach ever took her stroll. COACH PAT HEAD SUMMITT no doubt ever.. i mean seriously now she’s 16 wins from 1000. the winnest coach ever!!!! then the remaining members of our championship team get their announcements to walk out. i felt my eyes tear up. carrying the championship trophy was Alberte Auguste (who was dealt a bad hand in the wnba getting cut after the first two weeks) and next to her Candace Parker. of course the crowd went wild… yeah don’t get me wrong, i love me some Candace as a college player, but she changed once she went pro. but no bad thoughts here..

the played Rocky Top again. i sang, i clapped, then the banner started rising to the rafters…. i wiped a tear from my eye. Its official people… we are only 3 championships away from Pat having the most ever national championships . (yeah that dude from ucla has 10) but all we need are 10. and Pat needs 16 more wins to hit 1000… ONE FRIGGIN THOUSAND!!!
