Good Deed Done

Doing good deeds, saw this on my way to work, stopped and held her hand & talked to her til help came.

I was on my way to class when I came across this accident. I don’t know exactly what happened, but my military training kicked in. I stopped my vehicle, ran across two lanes of busy traffic to check on the woman in the van. Someone was already with the person in the other car which was sitting in a ditch, but no one was with the woman in the van. I remember her being African b/c of how she was speaking and half of it, I’m not understanding.

I held her hand for about 20 minutes until the paramedics showed up. I talked to her about her family, and tried to get to not look at her forehead which had blood trickling down. I tried to call her husband for her, but she couldn’t remember the number and her phone was nowhere to be found.

She mentioned she was on her way home after dropping her kids off at school.  I understood some of her broken English, I assured her that she was going to be okay and that help was on the way. Slowly the police pulled up one by one, then the paramedics, and the fire department.  I then told her that if she needed me, i would be just across the street and to have the paramedic call for me. She thanked me for my kindness, and i waited for my statement to be taken by the sheriff.

Since I hadn’t actually seen the accident, I was told to go on my way. I showed up late to class, but I felt good about why I did.

I wonder how she is doing now?

A random sarcastic a-hole. But still fun loving and wonderful. I have my moments where I spaz out, but who doesn't. This is a general fall spot for my late night ramblings about life in general.
